Buh-bye Big Brother

Big Brother has been a bit of roller coaster ride this summer. I decided not to watch because of the 'Dick'. I decided to give it a try because he exited the show before it really began. I got annoyed at the producers giving us a retread of the past several years with some of the most annoying players in BB history, and then got just a little interested because of Dominic providing a bit of eye candy.

Last nights show was my last of the summer and this post is my last for the year. It has been obvious since season two the producers play a hand in what happens. I have always taken that into account and like most 'reality' TV know that that is a part of it, but still enjoy aspects of the show.

Last night was simply too much for me. The manipulations were simply far to extreme and far too obvious. What is most scary to me is that even though I know I am right, I also know they are as well. The more pathetic this show gets with silly twists and annoying returning players. The more scripted this reality show becomes the more America seems to love it and the ratings shoot up...unreal!

Who to root for?

Now that Dick has left The Big Brother House (Amen!) I have started to watch. Problem is I am not sure who to root (root-meaning drool over). Keith was sort of hot, but he was out the door first. Brendon is really HOT but also rather a knob. To be honest he sort of scares me a bit with his 'not so subtle' passive aggressive neediness. Run Rachel Run (just don't laugh). I have never liked Jeff, and was not his Dumbledore comments. Those who watched his first season sadly seem to have forgotten the many homophobic rants he went on back then about Kevin, even Jesse. I am rather surprised he has such a following given he really proved to be an ass, guess good editing really does work wonders.

This week I decided to official jump on the Dominic train. I resisted due to his almost 'too cutsie' look but he is growing on me. He also seems to be playing well as linking himself to Dani was pretty smart given she is the only older pair without a partner. I think this should help him stay a few more weeks. My only hope for this season is the newbies get HOH soon so they can rid of those returnee's. CBS never learns and I hope they all get the boot quickly!

Thumbs Down CBS, Big Brother & Allison Grodner

Thumbs Down to CBS, Big Brother & Allison Grodner for a couple of decisions with this summers edition of the reality show. Big Brother has been my summer guilty pleasure for more than a few summers (although I skipped a few seasons including the horrid winter edition). Why do reality shows like Big Brother & Survivor think the audience want to see old players back, we don't! The whole point of a show like Big Brother is to spend time getting to know new people and personalities. Throwing back recycled players is about as creative as airing a rerun. If you want to do an All-Stars go for it, but stop putting old players onto new additions. Jeff and Brandon were short lived eye candy (until their personalities took over) and viewers want new players to route for, drool over and hate!

Most shocking, and it was shocking to me, was the shows decision to bring back the Dick from season 8. I know he has his fans (frightening to me), but live feed watchers know that in 'reality' Evel Dick was an abusive ass hole who tormented the other women (2 in particular) for months. His behavior was such that if not on a TV show, he would have been arrested. It was disgusting to see a TV show edit an abuser into a hero for ratings. His return this season had me vowing not watch. I may however have to begin watching if the rumors I have read today end up being true...

Thumbs down CBS and Allison Grodner for using such a vile and repugnant player for ratings and profit.
